Newman, Eitan Mordechai
Son of Sara and Michael Ezra. Born in Jerusalem on March 23, 1983, to Zvi and Meir Gidon, he was always very active in his charitable activities: organizing food parcels for the needy and mentoring children from needy families, “Eitan was a student of the Ramot Aleph State High School and the Himmelfarb High School, where he studied three possibilities: Recruitment to the IDF, religious studies and military service as part of a hesder yeshiva, or deferral of service and studies in a pre-military preparatory program. Eitan chose to join the pre-military program “Hemdat Yehuda” in the Jordan Valley and continued his studies for another year. When he enlisted in the IDF in March 2003, he was 20. Eitan loved the army and believed in the rightness of the road, and he had confidence and respect for his commanders and the soldiers he served on. In this mission Eitan and his friends were forced to blow up factories in which rockets were manufactured, many of which fell in the town of Sderot and in the settlements in the area. Sergeant Eitan Mordechai Neumann was killed when he was twenty-one years old and he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, leaving behind his parents and two brothers.
