Nevo (Rosenberg), Dror
Dror, son of Sara and Pinchas, was born on May 5, 1951 in Kibbutz Eilon, Dror was drafted into the IDF in early 1969 and volunteered for the Armored Corps, and after completing his basic training he took part in a tank course for tank commanders, a basic course for officers of the Armored Corps and a course for armored corps officers. He was a soldier and a good commander, and did everything he was entrusted with efficiently and devotedly, to the satisfaction of his commanders. He always took care of his subordinates and was very popular with them. His friend says that on the day Dror enlisted, Dror said, “Now it’s time we got to command, one thing do not forget – not to lose the human image, and to know that you work with people.” “Dror is an excellent officer, very responsible, capable and entrepreneurial, intelligent, honest and with original and independent thought.” He was awarded the Operational Service Award for his part in the operational activities. During the Yom Kippur War, Dror took part in the braking battles against the Egyptians in Sinai. On October 14, 1973, Dror fell in a battle southwest of the Mitla Pass. A shell hit his tank and he was killed on the spot. He was laid to rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Eilon. Survived by father, mother, brother and sister. His kibbutz published a pamphlet in his memory, including his memoirs, memoirs, letters and photographs; The Sulam Tzur Regional Council published a pamphlet in memory of the local people who fell in the war, and Dror among them.
