Netzer, Reuven

Reuven, son of Tovah and Yitzhak Netzer, was born in 1946 in Florence, Italy. Two years later he immigrated to Israel with his family. After graduating from high school, he joined the IDF in August 1964 and became a member of the Academic Reserve, thanks to his acceptance of applied physics studies at the Technion. Upon completion of his studies, he was assigned to serve in the Ordnance Corps. He served as head of the unit in the examination unit at the chief ordnance officer’s headquarters and as head of the branch. In his last job, he served in the United States on a military mission and reached the rank of lieutenant colonel. For his role in the technical team in the United States, he received a special letter of appreciation from the US Army for his contribution to the assessment of the plan to improve the Heubitzer cannon. Reuven fell during his service on the 11th of Sivan, the 18th of June 1986, and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Holon. He left behind Raya, his wife, a son and two daughters.
