Nemer, Yaakov


Son of Helen and Joseph. Was born on February 10, 1950 in France to parents who were born in Alexandria on their way to immigrate to Israel. After immigrating to Israel, the family settled in Migdal Ha’emek. Where Yaakov (nicknamed “Tiger” and “Panther”) grew up and was educated. He studied at the Shalom Aleichem Elementary School and continued his studies at Rogozin High School in Migdal HaEmek and completed the IAF Technical School. Yaakov was drafted into the army in September 1967 and was assigned to serve at the Air Force base in Ramat David as an aircraft mechanic. In 1980 he moved to the training system and served as a senior instructor. Throughout his military service, he was his main hobby and his intense preoccupation with leisure: sports. Yaakov served as a sports reporter in Migdal HaEmek of Yedioth Ahronoth, as a soccer judge and as an insurance agent. He also engaged in social activities and in helping youth in distress. Jacob fell during his service on 14.1.1987 in an accident on the Wadi Milek road near Daughter of Shlomo and was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Migdal Haemek. Raya – Zahava – two daughters – Ilanit and Yafit, son of – Michael, mother, three sisters and four brothers – Aryeh, Avi, Hannah, Ziva, Drora, David and Rami. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote about his devotion and the good spirit in which Yaakov fulfilled his role and educated generations of technicians. The commander describes him as a good friend, ready to help at any time, with a smile on his face. The commander further notes that in recognition of his actions, Yaakov was promoted to the rank of advanced sergeant after his death. His commander in the squadron described Yaakov in his letter to the bereaved family: “The pepper tiger, a leopard that organizes everything for everyone, a tiger who spoke with the body and the hands, the tiger of temperament … a tiger like his name is serious. In memory of Yaakov, a soccer game is held every year in which a trophy is awarded in its name.
