Nemer, Daniel (Danny)


Son of Shlomo and Rachel. Was born on 13.5.1928 in Istanbul, Turkey. When he was 13 years old, he was taken away from his parents. He completed his studies at the elementary school in his hometown and began to engage in commerce and imports. He was a member of Jewish youth organizations in Istanbul and participated, as an amateur actor, in plays that were dedicated to charities in Israel. Danny served in the Turkish army and was married when he was 26 years old. His daughter Rachel was born, and two years later his son Shlomo was born. Immigrated to Israel with his wife and children in 1964. In the first years after his immigration to Israel, Danny was chairman of the Association of Turkish Immigrants in Israel, a branch of Ramat Eliyahu, where he lived. Danny was drafted into the IDF in December 1965. After basic training he was assigned to reserve duty in the Ordnance Corps as a driver and a car mechanic, and every year he was called to reserve duty and participated in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. On December 6, 1974, Danny died during his service, was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Rishon Letzion, and left behind a wife, son and daughter.
