Neiger, Emanuel (Mano)
Son of Malka and Ovadia was born on April 15, 1925 in Jerusalem. He completed elementary school and completed his studies in English and French. He also studied fine mechanics and was a film mechanic. He earned a living by screening films in the British army camps in Palestine. He was a member of the Young Maccabee. His role in the Hagana was to repair weapons. After the car bomb exploded on son of-Yehuda Street in Jerusalem on 22 February 1948, he returned from Tel Aviv, where he worked and was one of the first conscripts to the Noam Company in the Jerusalem Brigade. Immanuel was an excellent machine gunner and one of the defenders of the Castel, who was subjected to heavy attacks by the forces of Abd al-Qader al-Husseini, who was killed in one of these attacks. The Arabs carried out a heavy attack on the Kastel to retrieve the body of their leader and took control of the outpost, which fell on the 28th of Adar 5708 (1948). He was buried in Ma’ale Hachamisha. On the 19th of Kislev 5714 (19.11.1953) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
