Navon, Shachar


Son of Smadar and Giora, was born on the 7th of Iyar, April 29, 1982 in Jerusalem. In mid-March 2001 Shachar joined the “Duvdevan” unit. He completed basic training and initial training as a fighter, and after eight months left in favor of the 890th Battalion of the paratroopers. He served in the regiment’s battalion company and went on to a commanding course, where he served as a commander and guided a squad of fighters in the training program they had undergone. On 22 March 2007, during his reserve duty, he was seriously injured in a car accident while on his way to the base. Shachar did not give up and despite the severe injury to his head and limbs, he fought for six months. Shachar underwent surgery on 2 September 2007. After two weeks in the intensive care unit, Shahar fell during his service on the 7th of Tishrei (September 19, 2007), at the age of twenty-five. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Yavneh.
