Nathaniel, Guy


Son of Amira and Shalom. He was born on the 14th of Cheshvan 5729 (14.11.1968) in Jerusalem. The eldest son of a four-boy family. He spent his childhood and adolescence in Kiryat Yovel in Jerusalem. Guy began his studies at the Agron Elementary School, continued his junior high school at the Lady Davis School of Electronics, and completed his high school studies at the Malak high school in the real world. Guy traveled a lot in Israel, loved the landscapes and the expanses. He participated in jeep tours and motorbike trips and was able to reach any place he loved. He devoted most of his free time to social activities. As a young boy, he was a member of the Scouts movement in the Jubilee tribe, and when he grew up, he worked as a counselor. He organized the movement’s factories and was a member of the regional leadership of the Scout movement. He also liked to deal with electronic tricks. Guy volunteered regularly for the Civil Guard, and on weekends he volunteered for MDA in Jerusalem and was a member of the Nahal Yatir Brigade, where he chose to serve in the IDF. He was assigned to the infantry and went on basic training in the Nahal Brigade. After completing a long and difficult basic training course, he went on a course in infantry relations and later on, he was scheduled to go to a course for infantry commanders. On the 25th of Kislev 5748 (25.11.1987), Guy fell in battle in the north, when he was hit by a rifle from a terrorist who came from Lebanon and burst into the brigade headquarters, One of the soldiers returned fire, but the terrorist slipped away and hit them at close range Guy and five other soldiers fell in the battle and ten others were wounded Guy was brought to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, leaving behind his parents and three In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, then-Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin wrote: “Guy was a wonderful friend, the living spirit in his unit … He loved the country and especially Jerusalem. Loved to paint and always took care of his friends … “After his fall, Guy was promoted to Corporal. The Jewish student organization in Rome planted a tree in the forest of the Jewish National Fund. Additional trees were planted in memory of Guy by Dr. S. Westerman of the USA On the first anniversary, the bereaved families and the Nahal Command gave a memorial to the boys who fell in battle. Gilead was established at the site, with the assistance of Kibbutz Kfar Giladi. His friends in the Scouts movement set up a rock garden in which a name of Guy was engraved. The rockery is adjacent to the tribal structure, where Guy was an active figure. Shvat Hayovel holds a “Zofit competition” in memory of Guy, in the establishment of a tent and sports facilities. The family members accompany this commemorative project and grant the trophy to the winning team. Guy’s parents commemorated his donation to the synagogue in Kiryat Hayovel in Jerusalem.
