Naim, Lucian (“Lulu”)


Son of Albert and Everett. Born on Wednesday, February 17, 1945, in Tunis, Tunisia, Lucian was six years old when he received his father and the large and orphaned family made a living from the mother’s work. During his first years of education he received his first Hebrew education. When he moved to the Tchernichovsky High School in Netanya, he met for the first time in Israel, and this change caused him a severe shock, and was an athlete and member of the Maccabim group in Netanya. It is the age of growing up from a strong struggle to assimilate into Israeli culture, despite being gentle and pleasant In August 1963 he reached the age of military service and then volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade, and as if he had been reborn and found redemption. As a conscript, the diligence and order that accompanied him during his high school years continued to accompany him in his military life as well, and he completed an officer’s course, followed by an officers’ course, and rose to the rank of command. Served as a deputy company commander and finally as a battalion operations officer and reached the rank of lieutenant. Participated in all the retaliations that the paratroopers conducted. During which he had acquired extensive combat experience. He never left the paratroopers, even for the day, and when he had the choice whether to travel as a guide to an African country or to remain in the paratroopers he chose the latter. As a member of the standing army, he fell in a battle that took place near Gaza on the first day of the battles of the Six-Day War, on June 6, 1967. The company in which it was located entered the area of ​​mortars and anti-tank guns. When he tried to locate the tanks, he got up and, exposed to the fire, was hit. He saw his duties as a volunteer and a sacrifice, and he fulfilled them in their entirety. He was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and later transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Netanya. In a booklet published by the Netanya Municipality in memory of the fallen soldiers, a list was published on it.
