Naim, David (“Dinu”)


Son of Jacob and Lydia. He was born on March 29, 1944 in Tripoli, Libya. At the age of four, he arrived in Israel with his family of nine. The incarnations of absorption began in Haifa and ended in Rehovot. Where he received his elementary education. The parents made their living from the small grocery store they opened but the fate was cruel to them and the father died suddenly. “Aliyat Hanoar” wanted to make it easier for the family and received, under its wing, as members of the Zionist youth farm at Jerusalem’s Blood Goldstein, the eldest daughter and one of the brothers together with David. David’s education within the society instilled in him a special responsibility towards her. In particular, he recognized the importance of creative work for the benefit of the state. His independence and firmness were evident from an early age, and during the years that David spent in the institution, he proved leadership skills as head of the group. David was a gentleman, sensitive and very inclined to art, to painting and carving wood. His educators predicted a bright future for him. When he reached the age of enlistment in February 1963, David was drafted into the IDF and attached to the Armored Corps and served in the army loyally and participated in every call and in every case he was required to serve in reserve duty. On September 28, 1967, David fell in battle in the Suez Canal area when the enemy was shelled by Egyptian artillery and brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
