Nahum, Avichai

The third son of Pnina and Rahamim (Rami), a brother to Shlomi, Lanir, Natanel and Labar. He was born at the Rothschild Hospital in Haifa on July 10, 1988, at 2 am, weighing 3,900 kilograms. “An angel child,” his mother called him, and says that as a baby Abihai knew how to employ himself. Avichai was named after his grandfather Abraham, the father of the mother. “There was a great deal of similarity between them,” says Pnina, “with the features of the face and the shy smile.” Avichai’s life was short, but rich and full of love. In Carmiel, the city where he grew up, Avichai studied at the Eshkol elementary school and in the “Ort Horowitz” junior high school. His teacher, Hannah Gradish, describes him as “smiling, cute, quiet and loving to help.” Avichai was very sensitive and was loved by everyone. There was a strong closeness between him and his brother Nir, and the two were connected as twins. “They were brothers in spirit and blood,” Rami says. Avichai always looked for a reason to celebrate, and so his and others’ birthdays became one big celebration. Throughout the year, Avichai was preparing for the celebrations, investing ceaseless thought and planning, always able to write the correct blessing and was happy to be the focus of attention and the center of attention. Avihai had been preparing for his Bar Mitzvah for many months, and when the day came, he was not happy. Ever since they came into the world, all five children of the Nahum family have broadcast unconditional optimism, joy and generosity. But on October 21, 2002, the sky fell. Nir, a soldier in the Artillery Corps, was killed in a terrorist attack at Karkur junction, a terror attack in which 14 people were murdered. As a thunderstorm, the calamity of the family was stirred, and time stood still. The family experienced days and nights of deep pain – “We stopped living but we continued to exist,” Pnina calls it. Avichai was not afraid of the loss of his beloved brother, and he wrote in his heartbreaking eulogy: “I do not know how to begin … I do not even know how to continue … How will I deal with the sorrow and pain that have fallen upon me? They came to inform us of the worst disaster … Snir … My brother … Killed !!! From that moment I did not know what to do, cry or scream … Nir … I miss you, and I will not stop longing for you all my life ! ” Slowly, Avichai gathered strength, developed new hobbies, and became the anchor and source of support for his grieving parents. At first it was the dance he addressed; The eagerness to dance helped Avichai relieve the frustration, the pain and the tension, and fill the void that opened after Nir’s death. Avichai began dancing in the Karmiel Dance Company – one of the largest ballroom dance companies in the country, under the direction of choreographers Genia Levant and Yuri Ingerman, and became an admired and successful dancer. His teachers in the band testified that although he had not danced from an early age, he quickly completed the gap. Avichai spent almost every hour in the dance hall, and if Genya had asked, he would have gone there in the middle of the night. “Carmiel Flowers” has represented Karmiel in Israel and abroad many times and has appeared in countless events – in festivals, show performances, television programs, national dance competitions, performances by the Ministry of Information, etc. Avichai participated every year in the Karmiel Dance Festival, With the band for competitions in England and Germany, the smile and color returned to his cheeks, and his talent for imitations was revealed, and Avichai was invited to participate in an impeachment contest on the Channel 10 program, imitated different communities, and picked up the first prize. , And although he did not learn to play in an orderly fashion, he played every instrument he had Ink. Avihay was a sensitive man himself, sensitive to others and sensitive to what is happening around. The world as if it were transparent to him; he looked at it, he and his. Avichai was able to diagnose any problem, to give a different perspective, unique and different, and the wisdom of life expressed in his speech and behavior was that of an adult. During his adolescence, Avichai discovered the love of cinema, and from then on it became his main hobby. Avichai bought himself a video camera, and did not stop filming. His desire was to be a film director, and indeed, the wonderful combination of his qualities – seriousness, wisdom and sensitivity – produced many films that he directed. For a long time, Avichai worked on writing screenplays, directing and acting as friends and actors, recording on the personal tape recorder ideas, and writing countless drafts for films. At the end of his studies in the 12th grade, Avichai created a personal clip – a kind of clip that sums up his life, which after his fall – became a memorial film about himself: Avihai was a family man: he loved family events, the warmth of the house, the caress of the family and grandmother. Special attention: He praised the beauty and wisdom of Bar, his little sister, with brother Nathaniel loved to play computer games, and his brother Shlomi admired and prided himself on him.For the years Avihai was the right hand of his parents regarding the commemoration of Nir, A website in his memory, he even began filming a film about his brother, but he did not have time to finish it: Avichai was handsome and energetic and was the model of the Nahum family. “Who knows if I’m twenty,” he once said, and used to say to his mother, “Mother, life is short, you have to spend, enjoy yourself.” Indeed, Avichai chose to take advantage of life on the way As soon as he was recruited, Avichai was appointed to the military reserve and enrolled at the University of Haifa for media studies, and was supposed to begin his studies in October 2006 and then join the IDF Spokesman’s Unit, But in the pressure of his friends he decided to give up his studies and enlist immediately. His parents supported him: “We wanted him to be happy,” Rami says. “We raised our children to values, to patriotism, Avichai asked for my combat, and we told him to be with him in fire and water.” Avichai was assigned to the special officers’ training course for the third, and went to the Training Base 11 for a pre-military course: “Everyone has a personal dream, every soul embodies a dream,” his mother wrote. On February 11, 2007, Avichai was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces, and after completing basic training, he was transferred to the IDF. The first part of the special officer’s course was completed with honors; In the next stage, in order to undergo one-third training, each cadet had to be absorbed for a period of time into one of the brigades. Avichai’s strong desire to close the circle and become a platoon officer in the battalion where Nir served, Battalion 411, led to his request to join the Nahal Brigade. It was not simply the moment when the parents were required to sign the form of approval for Avihai’s departure for combat duty, Avichai Nahum fell in combat near the border fence in the north of the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, and was killed in an attack on the family. (18.6.2007), when he was attached to Nahal Brigade 932. He was nineteen years old when he fell. The military commander of the military cemetery in Karmiel, left behind his parents, two brothers and a sister, and eulogized his friends: “Your path is our will, and we will continue to keep it. Standing tall and elevated, we will continue on the path you have paved, out of complete faith in the righteousness of your path. Your character will standWe will always be in front of our eyes, wherever we turn … be sure that when you are up there looking after us in Heaven, we will continue to perform our tasks in the most beautiful way, as you would demand and expect from us. “After Avichai’s death, “In his memory, the family published a memoir that tells the story of his life in pictures and words:” On his way he went out with Lil / and he did not come back. “He will not return forever,” they said to me. He gave me his clothes in tears and his signs in his quiet room, cold / his bed empty / no one to explain / only the oppressor / O son, you promised me / the voice in me to take / Nahum’s fans have set up a website in memory of his life story, a picture gallery, and comforting words, on the main page of the site. For whatever purpose Avihai had set, he reached his destination. Avichai loved dance and brought in a sensitive soul, an innocent and childish appearance with a wonderful maturity, a figure of an authoritative and admired man. In the opinion of his commanders, he said: “An excellent person, devoted and responsible, authoritative and acceptable to his friends, who has the willpower, stubborn and determined to succeed in the path of life and in general.” I will never accept a child, that I will never see you smile. I will never accept a child, so that I will not hear the thunder of your laughter. I will never accept a child, who can not stroke my thorny hair. I will never accept a child, who can not look at you with pride. I will never accept a child, whom I can not accept. From the poetry of Naomi Shemer: ‘Sad to die in the middle of Tammuz / But in the middle of Tammuz I die / to the fruit orchards that were orphaned / Hailed after the screeching will fall / And on your summer and on your harvest and on everything.’ “
