Nahon, Binyamin (Benny)
Son of-Ruchama and Maimon, was born on March 14, 1962 in Binyamina, the youngest son of a family of 6c girls, and attended the Eshkolot Elementary School in Binyamina, where he continued to study at the agricultural school in Pardes Hannah. In the “Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed” youth movement, and served as a guide for him, and he played sports in the Hapoel team in Binyamina, and when he was 13 years old, he underwent a Lev attack. In January 1981, Benny joined the IDF as part of the “Hatzer” nucleus in the Nahal Brigade, serving as the nucleus secretary in the Ruppin village in the Beit Shean Valley, but aspired to advance in the IDF. In June 1982 he was promoted to the rank of corporal, sent to the course of intelligence officers, and after successfully completing the course in April 1983, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel and stationed as an observer in an outpost in Jabel Baruch, Lebanon. His commanders reported about him at this stage of his service: “My son is an officer with an inner integrity, smiling, he has a sweeping joy of life.” On the 28th of Sivan 5743 (June 9, 1983), when one of his soldiers was taking care of his weapon, a bullet was shot and killed. He was 21 years old when he died. After they fell, my son was promoted to lieutenant. The commander of his unit wrote to his family: “It was not an easy road for my son to reach his position, and he enlisted in the Nahal paramilitary brigade, despite the opposition of the army’s medical personnel. Quickly he stood out and became the deputy commander of our most vital position. Afterward, Benny was sent to an officers’ course and finished with high grades. Immediately after finishing the course, he was sent to command the Kedmi team. “Benny was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Binyamina, where he left behind his parents and six sisters, after whom a Torah scroll was placed in the Sha’ar Rachamim synagogue in Binyamina.
