Nagar, Maoz
Son of Bracha and Shimon, was born on December 11, 1965, in Herzliya. Maoz studied at Rambam Elementary School and completed his studies at the Maimon High School, and his childhood was characterized by his qualities as a serious, gentle, handsome, sociable and quiet boy. Haim was always smiling, always willing to help others.In February 1984, Maoz enlisted in the IDF and volunteered to serve in the Paratroopers Brigade. He underwent long and arduous training, and at the end of his training he was sent with his unit to the combat zones in Lebanon. At that time there were many terrorist attacks from ambushes, and by mines and car bombs. His unit was active in the Nabatiyeh area. On April 9, 1985, during an activity in the sector, an arms accident occurred and a mortal was seriously injured. For 11 days he fought for his life, and on April 20, 1985, he died of his wounds. He was 19 years old. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Herzliya. Maoz left behind his parents, two brothers and two sisters. The commander of his unit wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Your beloved son fell in a place where he carried out courageous security activities for two and a half months. A Torah scroll was put in his name in the Tiferet Tzairim Synagogue in Herzliya. His name was immortalized in a memorial book for “the sons of Herzliya who fell in Israel’s wars”
