Nadler, Meir-Ze’ev (Mike)


Son of Yehoshua-Berech and Vita. Born on October 13, 1956 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he studied at the Hillel School in Pittsburgh, and when his family moved to Miami he continued to study in a Jewish school Mike was an excellent student, diligent and serious, and his grades were excellent, and in the United States he was a member of the Bnei Akiva religious youth movement. He had a lot of sports. Baseball, soccer, basketball and more. He excelled in table tennis and was among the best in athletics. With all his business, Mike found time to play the piano and reached a good level. However, due to the Gemara’s studies – in order to deepen his knowledge of Judaism – he gave up playing. Mike was friendly, kind and admired by his many friends. In 1970 he immigrated to Israel and settled in Jerusalem, where he continued to study in religious schools, where he studied at the Lipschitz Teachers’ Seminary in Beit-Gan and completed his high school studies at the Nativ Meir High School. At first he found it difficult to study due to insufficient knowledge of Hebrew, but eventually mastered the language and successfully passed the matriculation exams. His extreme integrity, sense of self-respect and truthfulness came to be revealed in his studies as well. He liked the yeshiva student very much. And he decided to combine this model with his military service. Meir Ze’ev was drafted into the IDF at the end of July 1974 and assigned to the armored Nahal Brigade. He completed basic training as an outstanding apprentice and was assigned, together with his good friend, to a hesder yeshiva in the Golan. He completed his studies in training and operational service. He successfully completed an artillery course, a tank commander course, and a tank-tank course and was awarded the rank of sergeant, and in the assessment of his direct commander he said: “He served as tank commander. He fulfilled his duties quickly and efficiently to the satisfaction of his commanders. Was disciplined and helped his friends whenever he was required to do so. “After the course, he went to Shulamit to continue his studies at the yeshiva. On May 20, 1975, Meir Ze’ev fell during a terrorist attack on the Golan Heights. Was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents, sister and brother.
