Tamir was educated in the village of his birth and followed the path of his older brothers and relatives who serve loyally in the army, some of them in positions of great importance. His aspiration for excellence and his pursuit of achievement has been evident since his childhood, and when he reached high school, he decided to move to the military boarding school of the Royal School in Haifa, an institution that trains his students to command combat units. Tamir joined the IDF in early August 2006. With the encouragement of the family he turned to the Sayeret Matkal commando unit and became the first Druze fighter to serve in the elite unit. He carried the flag of the primacy, placed it at the top of his mind and thus paved the way for the entire Druze community. Tamir loved the unit and was proud to be a fighter in it. At the same time, he maintained modesty, did not brag about his military service. He was smiling and friendly, and his friends who told him said, “Tamir is like his name, a tall man with blue eyes, a man who loved to help.” As Tamir completed the training course, Tamir went out with his friends to navigate alone in the Faran region of the Arava, an area with difficult terrain. On January 1, 2008, Tamir fell in combat activity in Har Nispeh in the Negev. Around 3:00 AM, his friends reported that Tamir had fallen off a cliff at a height of fifteen meters. The rescue unit of the air force that was dispatched to the scene found him dead. Tamir was twenty years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in his village cemetery, Julis, with hundreds escorting his coffin. Survived by parents, three brothers – Kamal, Sari and Salman and sister Ranin. After his fall he was promoted to First Sergeant. His brother, Salman, wrote: “Tamir is a graduate of the Military College of Command, the first Druze fighter in the Sayeret Matkal commando unit.” His brother Salman wrote: “On his last journey alone, with his modest steps, and with his death, he ordered us to go together shoulder to shoulder without standing, committee. Tamir was for me a brother and a soulmate who, in his unique and noble way, guided me to my path and was an example of emulation and admiration. “
