Mutzafi, Yosef (Yehuda)


Son of Anwar and Eloise. Born on the 7th of Elul, August 30, 1941, in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. His family name had gained fame in public work, and in all matters pertaining to its Jewish community. After immigrating to Israel, he was sent to the Hartuv transit camp, in Beit Shemesh, where he studied in elementary school, until the seventh grade. He then continued in Ben Shemen, until he completed his studies in the agricultural school. He participated in all the sports competitions, also, in the four-day march. He took matriculation exams, and belonged to the Hanoar Haoved movement. He showed talent for art, and worked in wood. Before joining the Army, in November 1959, he worked in agriculture. He received the rank of officer, in the artillery. He aspired to continue his studies at the Hebrew Technion in Haifa as a career soldier, but on the 11th of Adar 2, March 17, 1962, he fell in battle. He was laid to rest, in the military cemetery, in Kiryat Shaul. After he fell, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant.
