Mualem, Uri


Son of Avraham and Miriam. Born on 21.4.1947 in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, he immigrated to Israel with his family in 1950. He studied at the Zevuloni elementary school in the rural settlement of Rekhasim in the Zevulun Valley and at the Ibn Pina High School in Haifa. He participated in many marches including the Four Day Walk, the Jerusalem Parade, the Hermon Walk, the Three Day Parade, etc. He loved to swim and read books and listen to classical music recordings, and was an amateur photographer. , Volunteered for the paratroopers and took a military paramedics course. During his service he took part in the Six-Day War. After his discharge from regular service, he was called up for reserve duty. In August 1969 he was called up for reserve duty and on August 13, 1969, he fell in enemy shelling. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. His liaison officer wrote a letter of condolence to his family: “He did not settle for active duty in the area and saw that his work, which he dealt with, was a necessity and must be carried out despite the risk and difficulties of work.” The officer concluded his letter by expressing condolences to the bereaved family by the officers and soldiers of the unit.
