Moshkovitz, Yora (Georg)
Son of Gita and Moritz, was born on July 1, 1962, in the city of Haza in northern Hungary, and grew up in Popra, Slovakia, where he attended high school. During the Second World War he was subjected to hard labor in the Nazi concentration camps. After liberation he continued his studies in Prague and was ordained an engineer, but he did not find his place in Czechoslovakia and did not see it as his future. When he heard about the revival of the state, the Jewish spark and the desire to help his people arose. He went to an air military school in Olomouc (Moritz) in Moravia, approached the national aspirations of the Jewish people with great Lev and tried to be of help to his fellow volunteers. His goal was to reach the State of Israel as a perfect pilot and immediately join the IAF. On the 25th of Tishrei, 5749 (25.10.1948), on the last day of school, he took off on a plane with three other friends for a final exercise. The plane fell and the four were killed and brought to eternal rest in the Jewish cemetery in Olmitz. On 17.9.1961, his body was transferred to Israel and brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
