Moshinsky (Erez), Yuval


Yuval ben Anata and Yerach, was born on June 17, 1946, in Jerusalem.
Yuval was drafted into the IDF in August 1964 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After completing basic training, he completed a course for tank commanders, a training course for tank officers and a company commanders course. He was a division commander, an operations officer in the brigade, the head of the GOC Northern Command (then Major-General and later Chief of Staff Mordechai Gur), a deputy battalion commander and a tank officer in a tank division. When the Six-Day War broke out, Yuval participated in a long series of operations against the enemy. When he was in the regular service he participated in the Samu battle. In 1968 he participated in the Karameh operation and from 1971 to 1973, commanded his unit in raids on terrorist bases in southern Lebanon. He was an excellent armored officer and an exemplary commander who chose to serve in the IDF out of a sense of necessity. Yuval knew the tank, knew how to operate it and raised the units under his command to a high level of professionalism. With his devotion and affection for his soldiers, he could listen to his subordinates and solve their problems, and even the smallest detail. Yuval participated in the braking battles against the Egyptian army in Sinai. As soon as he reached the brigade, he began to organize recruitment and joined the fighting forces. On the 26th of Tishrei 5740, OCtober 22, 1973), his force participated in the conquest of the “Maror” stronghold that was held by the Egyptian army. In the course of the attack, missiles were fired at his tanks and Yuval was able to warn the tanks near him. Most of them managed to avoid the fire. Yuval was brought to rest at the Mount Herzl cemetery in Jerusalem, leaving behind his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
