Moscatel, Moshe (Moise)


Moshe, son of Sultana and Yitzhak Moscatel, was born in 1914 in Turkey. In 1942 he arrived in Israel by train from Turkey. He was a devoted son to his mother and even when he left her in Turkey and lived in Israel, already married with two children, he would send her money and look after her well-being. With the outbreak of the War of Independence he enlisted, served in the Givati ​​Brigade and fought in its ranks in various places in Israel. On October 19, 1948, during the “Yoav” operation, he participated with his battalion in an attack on the Egyptian formation in Hulikat. He was seriously injured and taken to a hospital, where he died on 17 Tishrei, October 20, 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery of Nahalat Yitzhak.
