Mosby, Moshe (“Moshiko”)

Son of Baba and Yocheved. Born in 1944 in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, the family immigrated to Israel in 1950 and Moshe was only six years old, and after a short time Moshe died of his mother and his father, who was absorbed in a livelihood, left him in the shadow of his older brother Rahamim Began to build his life in Moshav Patish, where he worked in the field of agriculture at the “Eshel Hanassi” agricultural school, where he earned his living, and during his leisure time he played the flute. In February 1962 and served in the Paratroopers Brigade. After the period of regular service he was released and remained loyal to the moshav. Soon he found his choice in Ashkelon and went out to get married and settle down. Three months later, the call came for reserve duty. Moshe went down to the south and after the fighting there ended and Moses was safe, he was one of the first to rise to the Syrian level, where the Syrians continued their war. As he left for battle, he said, “Be strong and brave, I do not know if I will return.” He belonged to the engineering corps and in the battle that took place over the hilltop on the Golan Heights, Moshe was hit while carrying out his missions under crossfire and without deterrence. He bravely stood up to the tasks of the breakthrough force to which he belonged, taking upon himself crucial roles in the battle. It was on the fifth day of the fighting, on the 9th of Sivan, 5767 (June 9, 1967), and he was put to rest in the military cemetery in Afula and was later transferred to the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. In the “Merhavim Immigrants” of the Merchavim Regional Council, whose name was commemorated in the book “Yad LaNovelim – Bnei Ashkelon” published by the municipality.
