Morris, Avraham


Son of Yaakov, he was born in Turkey to a poor family. In his youth he had lost his father, and one day he decided not to be a burden on his widowed mother. Avraham joined the Turkish army and served for seven consecutive years. In 1945, he tried to reach the land of Israel. The Syrians caught him before he managed to cross the border, and he was imprisoned for two years . Finally, he reached Israel. He acquired agricultural experience and worked as a dairy farmer, got married and awaited the birth of his child, but his military past and the distress of the homeland did not allow him to stand on the side. Avraham he joined the Irgun underground and was an experienced and excellent sniper. Avraham did not hide from his wife his affiliation with the underground. In the days of the operation he visited home frequently in order to prevent his wife for worrying during her pregnancy .He once had told her openly: “I am a hero and strong, but the bullet does not take it into consideration.” On the 21st of nissan, April 30, 1948, in an attack on Jaffa Avraham died from an Arab bullet. He had stepped out to hang a flag, his commander asked him to move slowly, but he was in a hurry and was hit by a bullet. He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.
