Mor-Yosef, Uri

Uri, son of Geula and Mordechai, was born on January 6, 1953, in Jerusalem. Uri was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early February 1971 and volunteered, following his older brother, to the Armored Corps patrol unit. After his basic training, he underwent a basic course in the tour, and since he excelled as a scout, he was sent immediately to the course of the reconnaissance patrols, and although his brother was his direct commander in this course, Uri was careful not to give any opening to the possibility that he would be assisted by his brother. , Returned to his mother’s unit, and immediately his commanders recognized the fact that, in addition to being an excellent soldier, he was also capable of being an excellent commander, and they quickly sent him to an officers’ course, which Uri also graduated with honors. He was good in all of them, as a soldier and as a man, and they had no doubt that he was the only person they knew who wanted to understand others as much as possible In everything related to justice and honesty, he was strict and uncompromisingHe was the only religious person among the secular, but it did not bother him – he demanded of himself and not of others. He always tried to fulfill the commandments, but did not use them as an excuse to evade duties. When he went to war he refused to eat until the end of Yom Kippur. During the war Uri participated in the battles in the Golan Heights, as commander of the reconnaissance unit. On the 9th of Tishrei 5734 (9.10.1973), he was hit by an ambush in the ambush of an anti-tank unit and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Mount Herzl, leaving behind his parents, two brothers and a sister.
