Mor, Ilan


Son of Yael and Zvi and grandson of the founders of Ein Gev, where he was born on January 10, 1967, the eldest son of his parents. He was a fast-paced, quick-thinking kid who laughed and giggled. He grew up in his kibbutz. Due to his rapid development, he began his studies at Kedmat Kinneret Elementary School before he was six years old. He excelled in musical hearing and loved to sing. He graduated with honors and continued to study at the Beit Yerah Regional High School. As a boy and youth he took part in the activities of the society and in the commitments of the children and youth, such as working in the agricultural sector, in which he displayed great responsibility. During his high school studies he began to devote himself to the kayak sailing hobby, while working in the kibbutz fishing industry. After completing high school, he worked in the kibbutz until his enlistment. Ilan was drafted into the IDF in January 1985 and assigned to serve in the Engineering Corps, successfully passing the period of training and basic training, and continuing a long training course for NCOs. Ilan volunteered to undergo another course, at the end of which he was ordained to serve as a noncommissioned officer in a bomb disposal unit, and fell on April 1, 1987, while he was carrying out his duties while he was still in the military section of the cemetery. In his kibbutz. Survived by his parents, sister and brother – Basmat and Nimrod. The commander of the unit said in his obituary: “Ilan was strong, solid and strong, on whom you can trust and his hidden qualities were kindness, Lev openness and inner pleasantness. The commander of the unit wrote in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family: “Ilan underwent a long, complex and difficult professional track, both physically and intellectually, and stood up with dignity and a remarkable level. The family and the kibbutz commemorated his name in a booklet in his memory, written by his classmates, members of the unit and Muki Tzur, who wrote: “In the course of his life he managed to give above and beyond the Lev.”
