Monowitz, Sarah


Daughter of Leon and Malka. Born on August 15, 1949 in Haifa, she studied at the Weizman elementary school in Kiryat Motzkin, where she belonged to the Mahanot Ha’olim youth movement, and even when she was in high school, She worked in the movement until the eleventh grade, and stood out for her devotion to the movement. She was a member of the “Gadna”, and among her special inclinations was the collection of postcards from all over the world, but she found time for any public work organized by her school (such as fundraising for the construction of bomb shelters) When she was eleven years old, she left the youth movement and began to travel abroad and wanted to continue her university studies after serving in the army. In January 1967, she was drafted into the IDF, but once in the performance of her duties, on the day of 1 Nissan 5729 (March 20, 1969), she died. From the military cemetery in Haifa.
