Molcho, Miriam (Madi)

Daughter of Donna and Raphael, was born on 13.6.1927 in the city of Salonika, Greece, to a rich and assimilated family. She attended an elementary school for girls and graduated from the city’s high school. The horrors of World War II went through occupied Greece. At the end of the war, she immigrated to Palestine with her two sisters and joined the youth movement in Tel Hai. At the end of the training period, she moved to Tel Aviv temporarily. When the battles of the War of Independence began, she returned to Kfar Giladi to help protect the agriculture, and was assigned to be responsible for the first aid issue on the kibbutz. On June 1, 1948, Syrian planes circled over the kibbutz. Many friends entered the shelters, but Miriam, in her role, chose to go to the children’s homes to help evacuate. On her way, she was hit by one of the bombs that were dropped on the kibbutz. She was brought to rest in the cemetery of Kibbutz Kfar Giladi. She laid two sisters.
