Mokadi, Raphael-Shmuel, Dr. (“Rafi”)

Raphael-Shmuel, son of Vered and Moshe Mokadi, was born on July 23, 1929 in Paris. Shortly after his birth, his parents separated and Rafi and his mother moved to Israel. His mother, Vered, raised him alone – not a simple thing at the time. Her efforts left their mark on him and shaped him as a dedicated and loyal person. Rafi grew up in pre-state Tel Aviv. In 1947, a few months before the establishment of the IDF, Rafi enlisted fully and participated in the War of Independence, and during his military service he continued his training. In May 1967, during the waiting period preceding the Six-Day War, Rafi waited impatiently to be called upon to participate in the defense effort. On June 17, 1967, after the war ended, Rafi’s body was found.
