Mizrahi, Shmuel

Son of Rachel and Avraham was born on March 10, 1921 in Tiberias. He joined Kibbutz Afikim and, after the outbreak of World War II, left the kibbutz to enlist in the British army. Shmuel was sensitive and devoted to his friends. At the beginning of the War of Independence, Shmuel left his job and joined the Palmach. His base was in Maaleh Hahamisha. Shmuel participated in the battles to secure the road to Jerusalem and was discovered as a brave soldier with a good spirit, cheerful and encouraging. He fell in Bab el-Wad (Sha’ar Hagai) when escorting a convoy to Jerusalem on the 19th of Adar 5708 (29.2.1948) and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
