Mizrahi, Nissim

Nissim, son of Masuda and Yosef Mizrahi, was born on April 14, 1931 in Tiberias, to a family of immigrants from Iraq. He first studied in cheder and then at the “Kol Israel Haverim” school. When he was 15, his studies were interrupted, and he began to work and participate in supporting his family. Nissim was 17 years old when his comrades went to battle, and he told his commander that he was 18 and worthy of combat service. Nissim took part in the battle in Jaffa, and in Ramle he suffered a serious wound. Nissim was transferred to the hospital and died on the sixth day of his injury, the 29th of Iyar, June 7, 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. When Nissim lay on his death bed, he comforted his mother:,”Do not get angry and do not cry, because this is the world, without falling, there are no conquerors and no winners.”
