Mizrahi, Ilan


Ilan, son of Shoshana and Yehoshua, was born on March 9, 1955, in Tel Aviv. He completed his elementary studies at the Katznelson School in Holon. Afterward, he completed his high school studies at the Holtz vocational school in Tel Aviv, specializing in aircraft mechanic. As a child, Ilan was a timid and shy child, as his teacher had testified. As he grew older, he developed a sense of independence and socialism, and he acquired many friends. Already as a student in elementary school, he developed a great love for books and reading, and he liked to read mainly adventure books. But along with these he read many books on other subjects. During elementary school, he was a member of a youth movement in Holon, where he met many friends, went on trips and trips, absorbed social values ​​and cultivated love for Israel and its landscapes. He always had a tendency to fine mechanics, and especially liked playing games that required the assembly, dismantling and construction of different things to the best of imagination. At an older age, he liked to wear model airplanes. No wonder he chose to go to the “Holtz” high school, where he could learn the basics of fine mechanics, especially the profession of aircraft mechanics, which he liked so much. In high school, Ilan was a good student, though quite quiet. He loved the studies, and tried to like them, too, for his classmates, mainly by helping anyone who needed help in understanding the material. Ilan was very fond of his friends, and they wanted his closeness. His good Lev and smile bought the Lev of all his acquaintances and friends, who saw him as a loyal friend and true friend. He loved friends and social life, and from time to time he would hold parties for his friends on Fridays or for special events. He gave cheerful Purim parties and parties in honor of his birthday, and everyone remembers the merry party he had made on the occasion of his driver’s license. With all his many connections with his friends, Ilan was also a devoted son of his family, involved in the affairs of each member of the family and helping everyone in every possible way. In particular, he liked to help his father in the cultivation of the home garden and in the various jobs required to maintain the house and its surroundings. Ilan was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early August 1973 and volunteered for the Air Force, and was very proud of his uniform, but he wanted to succeed in the course of the course, but after the training period he dropped out of this course and did basic training at another base. Ilan had a specific position in the IDF and, like all his friends, he helped in various jobs at various bases. After the end of the Yom Kippur War, he was sent to the Air Force Technical School to study in an aircraft mechanic course. He completed the course with honors and was assigned to serve at the Tel Nof Air Force base, as an interceptor mechanic, and his role as a mechanic in the squadron. On April 21, 1974, Ilan fell in the line of duty in an explosion that occurred at the base where he served. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and two sisters.
