Mizrahi (Ella), Reuven

Son of Simcha and Shlomo, was born on December 1, 1926 in Jerusalem. He attended elementary school and at a young age began to work. At first he worked in a laundromat, then specialized in quarrying stones. From the age of 14 he was a member of the Haganah and participated in many activities. He told his parents nothing, but told his brother everything. He saw his mission as paving the way for Israel’s independence. Reuven participated in the activities of Sheikh Jarrah, Wadi Joz, Beit Safafa, Mekor Haim and Atarot. He set out with his platoon to set up an ambush for Arab transport on the Jerusalem-Ramallah road. At the time of the department’s withdrawal to Atarot, it was attacked by an Arab mob, surrounded and most of its members fell. This battle fell on the 23rd of Adar I 5708 (March 4, 1948). He was buried in Sanhedria in Jerusalem. On the 5th of Elul 5711 (6.9.1951), he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
