Mizrahi, Eliezer
Born in 1954 in Egypt, was 3 years old when Eliezer immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1957, after the Sinai Campaign, and settled in Holon, where Eliezer completed his studies at the Weizmann elementary school. He continued to study at the ORT vocational school, where he completed mechanical engineering, and after finishing eleventh grade, Eliezer went to work as a locksmith in a factory. Eliezer joined the Israel Defense Forces in May 1972 and served in the Signal Corps, and after completing basic training, he was sent to the course of the wireless operator Morse. He participated with his unit in the Yom Kippur War. After completing his regular service, Eliezer volunteered to serve in the regular army. He was sent to a high-strength wireless course, and at the end he was promoted to sergeant. In December 1974, Eliezer was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and in 1978 he married a wife and set up his home in Daughter of-Yam, where his children were born. In April 1976, he was promoted to the rank of Major General. Eliezer sought to move on to an officer’s course, and for this purpose completed his education and prepared himself for a matriculation certificate. The commander of his unit wrote about him in a letter of condolence to his family: Eliezer served in the unit for more than ten years, and was very proud of his service there. He established a generation of soldiers, and was a familiar figure and loved by everyone who worked with him and under his command. He was a central figure in the unit, thanks to his personality, experience and professional knowledge. With great energy, Eliezer fulfilled every task he initiated or imposed on him.
