Mizrahi, David

David, son of Sima and Yitzhak Mizrahi, was born on 28.7.1928 in Jerusalem and acquired a basic and secondary education. He worked as a clerk in the Palestine Post newspaper for 16 years before becoming a member of the Haganah and underwent training. In Wadi Joz, when one of the soldiers was wounded, he passed the heavy machine gun to his deputy, crawled to the wounded man and managed to bring him to safety. On 13 Adar 2, 5708 (March 24, 1948), he set out in the convoy to transfer equipment and food to the besieged Atarot and Neve Ya’akov. As they passed Shuafat, the armored vehicles encountered roadblocks and mines and were arrested. In a face-to-face battle against a stronger enemy force, David and his comrades fell. He was buried in Sanhedria in Jerusalem. On the 9th of Cheshvan 5711 (8.11.1951) he was transferred to the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
