Mizrahi, Baruch
Baruch, the eldest son of Esther and Ezra Mizrachi, was born on June 22, 1923. He was educated at the age of nineteen and enlisted in the British army. He was on one of the ships that were bombed in Tripoli and was miraculously rescued. Baruch participated in escorting convoys to Hadassah, to Mount Scopus, to Talpiot, and to Ramat Rachel, and was among those who rushed to the Hadassah medical convoy. He was a brave soldier and always ready to go with “fire and water.” He knew for what he was fighting. When he left for his last act, he said goodbye to his mother and said, “Mom, I’m going to open the way for you to the Western Wall.” Baruch fell near Barclays Bank in Jerusalem on May 16, 1948. He was buried in Sanhedria and on September 20, 1951, was transferred to the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
