Mizrachi, Zvi

Zvi, son of Leah and Nissim, was born on December 13, 1952, in Tel Aviv. He studied at the Horev religious elementary school in Tel Aviv and at the Bnei Akiva high school in Ra’anana. At school Zvika was a good and hardworking boy, the “living spirit” of the class, loved by all – both teachers and students. Since his sixth year, he used to visit the synagogue every Shabbat morning. Zvi was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early February 1971 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, but he refused to serve in the combat unit. His commanders and subordinates loved him for his honesty and devotion. He did not recognize the concept of “ingenuity.” Everything was done out of the heart. Although he preferred combat service to religious service, he never forgot his strong faith. He always carried the tefillin, the siddur and the prayer shawl wherever he went. During the Yom Kippur War, Zvika took part in the battles against the Syrians in the Golan Heights. On October 6, 1973, he was killed and fell in a battle that took place in the area of Hoshenia, and he was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the Kiryat Shaul cemetery and left behind his parents, four sisters.
