Mizrachi, Yaakov

Son of-Zion and Flora. He was born in the Old City of Jerusalem on July 16, 1937. He completed his studies in elementary school but could not continue his studies because he went to work to help his working parents, was a member of Hapoel and excelled as a soccer player, After his enlistment in the IDF in October 1954, he gained combat experience and excelled in passivity and patience, as the smile on his lips testified when he returned from various activities. On the 12th of Marcheshvan 5707 (28.10.1955), in the Kantilla raid, columnist Ya’akov Mizrachi was included with a secondary force that stormed the buildings in order to capture prisoners. During the assault, a group of enemy soldiers continued to resist. The column Ya’akov Mizrachi pursued himself, with courage, after the enemy fighters. During his assault he was mortally wounded, and when the force returned to his base he died of his wounds. Jacob was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Two days later, his family donated to the Magen to buy an Uzi submachine gun and two hand grenades. “Another soldier will avenge Yaakov’s revenge, including the blood of all the courageous boys for whom the nation exists.” Chief of Staff Moshe Dayan gave the Mizrachi Yaakov the medal of valor that was given to his family in April 1973. In his book, “Wars of the Paratroopers”, his memory was raised.
