Mizrachi, Yaakov

Son of Meir and Miriam. He was born in 1947 in Egypt and immigrated to Israel in 1957. Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in August 1966 and served in the Israel Navy. He was killed along with the rest of the staff of the Dakar team, and because he was absent with the entire crew, he was assigned a memorial monument inside the monument at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. On the 28th of June 1999, after years of searching, the INS Dakar submarine was found on the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea, at a depth of 2,900 meters on its planned sailing route and 250 miles from the port of Haifa. His burial place is unknown.
