Mizrachi, Moshe

Son of Sasson. He was born in 1916 in Safed. Moshe and his family lived first in Acre and then moved to Haifa and he found his livelihood as a construction worker. Moshe joined the Haganah and was active in its ranks. During the bloody riots of 1936-1939, the Irgun and Lehi organizations carried out many activities to break the “restraint” of the Yishuv institutions. In one of these actions, on 26 Tamuz, 25 July 1938, a bomb was planted in the Arab market in Haifa that wounded and killed many Jews. Following the explosion, Etzel members ambushed Arab passersby, and Moshe, who used to wear oriental clothing, was mistakenly considered an Arab, shot by an Irgun man and killed. He was laid to rest in the Haifa cemetery. He left a wife and two children. His memory is commemorated in the booklet “Kofer HaYishuv”.
