Mizrachi, Moshe

Son of Rachel and Marcel, he was born on May 24, 1963 in Moshav Shoresh in the mountains of Jerusalem, where he completed his studies at the “Yehuda Mountains” elementary school and continued to study for another three years at the ORT vocational school. Before he enlisted in the IDF, Moshe worked as an electrician in Moshav Shoresh. In May 1981, he enlisted in the IDF, underwent basic training and was assigned to serve in the Palmach unit. On August 28, 1982, Moshe traveled from his home, after spending a Shabbat break, to the airport in Lod in order to fly back to his unit in Lebanon. On his way to the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway, near the Lod interchange, a road accident occurred, and Moshe was killed in it. He was 19 years old when he died. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He was survived by his parents, three sisters and two brothers, and his unit commander wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Your dear son served in our unit for one year of devoted and impeccable service. He was a responsible and disciplined soldier, and did all the work well. We will remember Moshe as a quiet soldier who was liked by his comrades in the unit, and especially his commanders.”
