Mizrachi, Erez
Son of Tzippora and Yehoshua, was born on the 27th of Tishrei 5723 (27.10.1962) in Rehovot. Erez was a nice and handsome boy. He was very attached to his family, loved fishing and loved traveling in Israel. Erez attended the “Sprinzak” elementary school in Rehovot. Afterward, he continued his studies at the Katzir junior high school. From there he moved to the Ort vocational school in Ashdod (Navy), where he studied for one year. He later worked at Israel Aircraft Industries as a car mechanic, and was satisfied. When he enlisted in the IDF, Erez underwent basic training and was assigned to the Armored Corps, in the 14th Brigade, the 79th Battalion. He took various courses, such as a course for armored personnel carriers, advanced to the rank of sergeant. A month and a half before the outbreak of the Peace for Galilee war, Erez underwent severe measles and lay in one of the clinics in the north. When he recovered, he moved with the force advancing towards the Beirut-Damascus highway. On the fourth day of the war, on the 8th of Sivan, 5762 (June 9, 1982), Erez was hit by a 155 mm shell and killed when he was 19 and a half years old He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rehovot Two weeks before the war began, His sister, Shoshi, married and happily took part in the event, two days later – he was killed, and his parents, brother and sister were placed behind him, and electric chandeliers were installed in his synagogue.
