Mizrachi, Avraham

Avraham, son of Esther and Joseph-Chaim Mizrachi, was born on February 5, 1929 in the Yamin Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem and studied at the Doresh Zion school where his father worked as an officer. When he was 11 years old, he was orphaned from his father. At the age of 16, he joined the Irgun and was arrested in 1946 for the distribution of leaflets and was incarcerated for a time in Latrun. After his discharge, he was captured again in 1947 by British policemen and he tried to escape. In the winter of 1948, with the beginning of the Arab attacks on the Yishuv at the outbreak of the War of Independence following the UN General Assembly Resolution, Avraham participated in guarding the positions and in retaliation. Avraham was assassinated by the Arabs on the 15th of Nissan, April 25, 1948, and with the efforts of the mayor of Tel Aviv, the British policemen brought his shattered body, which the Arabs had abused, from Jaffa. Avraham was brought to eternal rest with military honor to the Nahalat Yitzhak military cemetery.
