Mizrachi, Avraham
Son of Meir and Rachel. He was born on November 14, 1952, in Tel Aviv. He attended the Zvi Shapira Elementary School in Tel Aviv and the Amal vocational school in Petah Tikva. At the vocational school he chose the profession of automotive mechanics and loved his profession. He was hardworking and hated wasting time. In his spare time, he had many hobbies, because he did not want to go idle. He was the sports spirit of the neighborhood. Every Friday he would take care of the weekly soccer game and participate in Hapoel’s football team in Ramat Gan. His sporting activities varied, because he also excelled in basketball and other sports, in addition to being a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement. He was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of November 1971, and after only four months of service, on the day of the 16th of Adar 5732 (March 1, 1972), he was taken to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. The battalion commander wrote among his other words: “Avraham was a name in the company, an excellent soldier and a friend willing to help everyone. His name has always been mentioned favorably by both his commanders and his comrades-in-arms. Abraham always had the ability, the strength and the will to do what was imposed on him and beyond what was imposed on him. I will not exaggerate if I say that your son was a symbol and a model to all his friends. – You should know that being a soldier and a friend, the best of the best, served as a model for friends and soldiers who continue his path. “
