Mishayev, Mordechai
Son of Luba and Savi. He was born on 18.3.1957 in the city of Kuba in the Caucasus (former Soviet Union), where he attended elementary school and high school. In 1975, when he was 17 years old, he immigrated to Israel with his family, who settled in Acre. He married Hanna and the two moved to Beit She’an, where he worked in Tnuva. He was drafted into the IDF in August 1977. Due to family problems, his service was shortened. In mid-April 1978, Mordechai was released from regular service and assigned to reserve duty in a security unit in the IAF. The family moved to Acre and Mordechai was hired by an aluminum factory in Tire Shalom. On the 11th of Av 5742 (31.7.1982), Mordechai fell during his service and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Nahariya. He left a wife, three daughters and a son, parents and three brothers. In his letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote that Mordechai “was a favorite of all his friends, devoted to his job and fulfilling his duty; the best of the best.”
