Mintzer, Dov

Son of Sarah and Shlomo. Born in 1914 in Stanislaw, Galicia, he moved to Libya and from there immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1936. He lived in Rehovot and lived there with three friends – Dov Klein, Naftali Reich and Aryeh Hecht. Dov was “cheerful and smiling, and in times of suffering he encouraged his friends.” In September 1938, at the height of the bloody riots, he was sent with his friends to accompany the workers of the Israel Electric Corporation to repair power lines near Masmiya. On the way, they were ambushed and shot at. On the following day, on the 16th of Elul, the 11th of September 1938, Dov died of his wounds at the Hadassah Hospital, and his three friends were killed. In the memory of the members of the Electric Company, the workers published a booklet “In memory of the comrades in work and in guarding”.
