Mintz, Avi (Avraham)
Ben Chana and Yekutiel, was born on May 18, 1952, in Magdiel, Avi was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early August 1970, and at his request, he was assigned to the Armored Corps. In early August 1973, two months before the war broke out, he completed his compulsory service. Avi was released and assigned to a reserve unit and immediately returned to his first love – the land. He decided to study citrus technicians at the Mikveh Israel agricultural school. He began his studies in September 1973 but failed to fulfill his dream and build his own farm. During the Yom Kippur War, he served as a tank commander on the Sinai front. When the war broke out he did not wait for the order and hurried to join his unit. Every day of the seventh of October he drove to his unit. On October 8, 1973, his tank was hit and Avi fell in combat in the Hamutal area. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Magdiel. He left behind a mother and brother. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
