Mimran, Yitzhak

Yitzhak, son of Esther and Eliezer Mimran, was born in 1930 in Jerusalem. When his mother tried to persuade him not to jump into danger, he replied: “I do not care what happens to me, the main thing is that the next generation lives in security and tranquility.” Yitzhak participated in escorting caravans to Tel Aviv and to remote neighborhoods and in various battles. He was wounded in operations in Atarot, in Motza (where he crawled once in a meter of fire to the commander of his squad who was wounded in the stomach). When he recovered at his home after being injured for the fifth time, his parents encouraged him to be discharged from the army, but he refused. When he went from his home to the Schneller camp to receive a job, he was seriously wounded by shrapnel from a shell in his camp in Mahane Yehuda, and on the following day, on May 29, 1948, he died in the hospital. On 28 Elul 5710 (10.9.1950), Yitzhak was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
