Michaeli (Moshayev), Zion
The son of Kattan, the eldest and the eldest, was born on October 8, 1956, in Dushmbe, Russia. Immigrated to Israel with his family in 1972. Zion acquired his basic education in Russia, even began his high school. Upon his arrival in Israel, he continued his studies at the Ironi Gimel High School in Tel Aviv, after completing a year of Hebrew studies at the Ulpan. He loved his studies in the electricity track at school and liked his teachers. Despite his efforts and great will, he did not pass the matriculation examinations because of language difficulties. Zion was a member of the “Youth House” in Jerusalem. He was very fond of sports and excelled in swimming and playing ball games. Zion was the youngest of his parents, the brother of the four daughters of the family, and therefore was the most spoiled of all. When his father died, he volunteered to help his mother carry the burden of earning a living, helped her a lot with housework, and became a father to the family. Zion was drafted into the IDF in May 1975. After basic training, he was sent to the Central Command in Jerusalem, first as a security officer and later as post clerk. As his commander attests, Zion fulfilled his role “satisfactorily and voluntarily for additional missions outside his position.” On the 14 th of Tevet 5738 (23.12.1977) Zion fell during his service. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. A mother and four sisters left behind him. His family donated a Torah scroll in memory of the synagogue in his neighborhood.
