Meyer, Zvi-Ze’ev (Luzi)


Zvi Ze’ev, son of Rachel and Abraham Yitzhak Meyer, was born on the 22nd of Teves; January 22, 1930 in the city of Deva, Romania. He could not stand doing nothing with the outbreak of the War of Independence so he boarded an illegal immigrant ship that made its way to Israel, was caught, transferred to Cyprus, and a month before the declaration of the state, he was released and immigrated to Israel. He enlisted immediately and served in the Harel Brigade. On the night of June 8-9, 1948, he went with his battalion to the “Yoram” operation – the third attack on Latrun. In this battle Zvi fell and he was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
