Messika, Yosef (Yossi)


Son of Marcel and Aaron. He was born on September 28, 1956 in Ramle. Yossi began his studies at the Maanit Elementary School and continued at the Ramle-Lod High School, where he studied for two years. When he was 16, he moved to the military school in Tzrifin, where he completed his studies as a tank mechanic. In mid-November 1974, Yossi was drafted into the army, and served as a tank driver, and then as a tank tester at various bases, and in 1977 he joined the ranks of the regular army, Oren and Alon On February 23, 1988, Yossi fell in the line of duty. During a trip from his home to his unit, he was involved in a road accident and found his death. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Ramle. Survived by a wife, two children, parents and two sisters – Shoshana and Ayala and brother – Danny. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “… Yosef volunteered to serve in an elite armored unit, and he performed all the tasks assigned to him in the best possible manner,
