Meshulam, Reuven

Son of Yosef and Victoria. Born on May 17, 1948 in Binyamina at the height of the War of Independence, he studied at the elementary school in Moshav Amikam, north of Binyamina, and was a member of the Betar movement. He was an excellent athlete and a gifted footballer and received many honors. His parents were pleased with their son, who was very devoted to them. His devotion to his parents was expressed mainly in the assistance he would provide in all agricultural work in the agriculture in order to make things easier for them. Even during his short vacations from the army, after his enlistment, he used to work in the agricultural farm and help his parents as best he could. All his friends from the colony loved him and enjoyed being with him. He was drafted into the IDF in August 1968. On the 24th of Marcheshvan 5704 (November 4, 1969), he fell while serving in Ma’ale Adummim and was brought to the eternal rest of the cemetery in Binyamina. Served under my command as a squad commander in the battalion and performed all his duties with great loyalty, dedication and integrity. It was right to carry out any difficult task and accept any responsibility. He would have understood the first. Was highly admired both by his commanders and by his subordinates and by his comrades in the unit. “The letter concludes:” The First Bowsers Battalion is bowing its flag. “The family donated a trophy to his memory and each year a soccer game was held between Betar Alona and Betar Binyamina. The military rabbinate donated a Torah scroll in its name to the synagogue of Moshav Aviel.
